Look Who Stopped By!

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting John Riccitiello, EA’s CEO and Rich Hilleman, EA’s Chief Creative Officer.

Mirage Pong

After weeks of developing a meatier game experience involving a deep sea adventure, we’ve settled on creating a simple game experience for Soft Opening that more effectively demonstrates our technology. To date, this is the third piece of software that we have developed for the Mirage System, and with each new game we learn more and more about the system’s strengths and weaknesses.

The game will be a simple version of 3D pong that will be played in real time between four players. We’ve measured the real-life dimensions of our cube play space and scaled them accordingly in the program, making this the closest realization of our original vision for a virtual “play space.” With an infrared LED attached to their hands via a strap, players will hold their hand palm-out and block the ball which increases in speed as the game progresses.

Preparing for Softs

After we finished construction, we set up a test environment using monitors so that we could test without the fog. We’ve now networked all of the computers with a laptop which serves as a host and can run operations on all of the computers.

Construction Has Begun!!! Developer Diary 8

We’ve finally begun construction on the final modules with the help of our advisor, Carl Rosendahl, who has graciously offered his personal workshop for our use. Keep an eye out for future developments!
